The Motueka Ripple
Motueka is a town full of extraordinary people doing extraordinary things. The Motueka Ripple is a free weekly spotlight series celebrating the businesses, makers, and humans that make this place worth living in.
No catch. No cost. Just community. 🌊
How to keep the Ripple going.
The Ripple grows every time someone shows up for a local business. You don’t need a budget or a marketing plan. Just three small things that take about two minutes and make a real difference.
Leave them a Google review. Like, share, or tag them in their spotlight post. And if you love what they do, tell someone.
That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
Some of our featured businesses have even started their own mini Ripples, spotlighting other locals they love and using the hashtag #MotuekaRipple. Watching that take on a life of its own has been one of the most beautiful things about this whole journey.
Every share reaches someone new. Every comment builds trust. Every review helps a local business get found. The momentum is real and it belongs to all of us.

Real Stories
Every spotlight is written from a real conversation. We find the gems in every business story and share them with the world.

Why the Ripple exists.
Twenty years ago I watched Pay It Forward and never forgot it. A kid decides to do something good for three people, and instead of being repaid, asks them to pass it on. Not a transaction. A ripple.
I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately.
Motueka has always been a place where people look out for each other. Where the cafe owner knows your name. Where the tradie down the road shows up when you need him. Where small businesses prop each other up because that’s just what we do here.
But there’s a heaviness right now. Empty shops. Quiet streets. Business owners I know personally working twice as hard for half the return.
So I asked myself what I could do. Not as an agency owner with something to sell. Just as someone who was born here and loves this place deeply.
The answer was simple. Tell their stories. Loudly. For free.
What I didn’t expect was what it would mean to the people being featured. Business owners moved to tears reading their own spotlight. People who work so hard, so quietly, hearing for the first time that their community sees them and values them. A collective force of positivity that gave some of them a genuine new lease on life. Kiwis don’t always say this stuff out loud, and it turns out, people really needed to hear it.
In the first month, five spotlights generated over 60,000 collective views. No ad spend. Just community showing up for community.
That’s the Ripple.
